I had an amazing time on Saturday at the Georgetown Alexa Chung for Madewell launch party! Too much fun, perhaps…but still, it was a really great event.

Anthony and Grace came along for the ride (thanks mah dudez), and we snacked on awesome cookies/candies from - as Madewell put it - “Alexa’s homeland” (England, the ever-flowing Fountain of Cool). Keeping with the British theme, they also served Pimm’s Cup drinks and Holy Grail Ale. Didn’t try the Holy Grail Ale, but the Pimm’s Cup was AWESOME. So good. Definitely buying some Pimm’s No. 1 for future use.

We managed to get a (single nail) palm tree’d manicure, then headed upstairs for some sweet photobooth pictures, said hello to DJ/Alexa BFF Tennessee Thomas with the best playlist ever, and finally (FINALLY) over to Alexa.

While we waited in line, I suddenly realized that the girl in front of me was wearing the same exact dress as I was.
The same exact Alexa Chung for Madewell dress. The same dress she probably bought on Thursday (like me) after waiting outside (like me) and seeking it out on the website (LIKE ME). Yikes.

Do you ever get that moment of paranoia when someone does that? I think I’ve probably read enough issues of US Weekly to be terrified of “Who wore it better?” syndrome - and I had almost got it down to the black cardigan she was wearing (and luckily I hadn’t worn it because of the heat). In the end, it really didn’t matter…I could write it off as someone having good (if not similar) taste, right? Sure.

Meeting Alexa was the best thing, ever. I’m usually starstruck by a lot of people I admire, but she was really cool! And charming. And awesome. And tiny.
I was so nervous that I forgot what kind of shoes she had on (thanks, internet). BUT it was the best thing ever, the best time ever, and I hope she pops out another Madewell collection and comes back next year!
