Typhoon Gener/Saola Strikes Southeast Asia

This past week Typhoon Saola, known as Gener in the Philippines, has bombarded Southeast Asia. Winds reaching 95 mph (155 kph) combined with torrential rains and landslides have damaged and shut down much of Taiwan and the Northern Philippines. In the Philippines alone, 23 lives have been lost.

I realized that, at one point during the Closing Ceremony in China four years ago, I had said, “Hopefully I can be in London when that happens.”

And then you realize how much faster four years flies by — not in terms of the entirety of high school or a projected amount of time in college — and somehow, there’s been progress, but you’re still at a pause.

Granted four years ago I think being 24 seemed like an important and adult thing. There’s still a lot of work to be done.

I’ll get there eventually.
